Why is it important to have a professional Hazardous Materials Assessment completed before starting a maintenance, renovation, or demolition project?

Occupational Health and Safety legislation states that the employer is responsible for identifying hazardous materials such as asbestos, mould, lead, PCB’s, mercury, and radioactive materials prior to any renovation or abatement project. Impacting these materials may expose occupants or workers to these hazards if proper safety measures have not been put in place to safely control exposure. A professional assessment will identify which hazardous materials, if any, exist, where they are located, and recommendations for controlling exposure. An ASE Services Hazardous Materials Assessment Report will also provide conclusions about the potential for exposure, as well as recommendations for next steps. This detailed report contains floor plans and photographs to visually describe the location and condition of any hazardous materials.
